All I can do is ask God to keep her heart and mind and to direct me as a parent to rearing her up in a sinful world in which we live. This world is trying to steal our children and we cannot let it happen. I enjoy your blog here, you inspire me. Take care and God bless, at least I know I am not alone. I pray for you and you do the same for me. This is indeed a battle.

Comment on What Can My Child Watch?

That's a hard question. I found myself thinking about the same thing, not because I have kids, but because I gave my life back to Christ, and I no longer wanted to taint myself with things that I know wasn't God. I have found that as I am strengthened and continue to grow, when I come across things in the media in general, it doesn't affect me. It doesn't mean that I have a pass to watch and listen to any and every thing out there... you eventually become whatever you saturate yourself in. It means that the more you grow in the things of Christ, the more you are protected in the enemy's advances.

It sounds like you have a beautiful relationship with your daughter, and as a guy, I don't often use the word 'beautiful' :-). Keep doing what you are doing... encouraging her.. praying with her... being someone she looks up to, that she see's the Christ in you. There isn't always a way for us to put our heads in the sand in order to shield what is out there. In fact, some things out there are actually tests and teaching moments that actually allow us to grow in our faith. Hope this helps!!!

Ellis

Comment on The Vacation is Over

The beginning of September reminds me to step up and change gears for the upcoming holiday season. Spreading the word about our Caribbean Black cakes abd Rum cakes as gifts and for sharing becomes my primary focus. I pause often these days to give God thanks. Thanking Him for sustaining us and our business and seeing us through these times that require determination, fortitude and a mental resolve to not only to strive but to thrive. The last quarter of the year always reminds me of family and sharing and offers the opportunity to be in relationship with others, which often provides a moment to grow and to learn as we interact with each other. I thank God for my life and for the lives of others with whom I share the planet.

Comment on When to Sit Down

Simple stated we put not our trust in man but solely trust in God. The message of a song is infinitely more important than the messenger. However, it is very difficult to listen to the message if we doubt the authenticity of the messenger. Men as fail since the begin of creation starting with Adam and man will continue to fail or faint until the Lord Jesus put in his return for those who trust in him. We have a comfort in Christ Jesus, knowing through him and the grace provide we have an advocate with the father and repentance is available at this present. So, I say listen and let the songs minister to your Heart, worship the Lord, rejoice for joy or the spiritual uplifting but remember to pray for the ministers of the songs or the spoken word as we listen. Let's always remember to pray our brothers and sisters in Christ because the greater the anointing on our life the greater the trials that awaits us. The Lord is able and will to keep us be we have to keep our eyes and trust in him. Paul have rightly stated "having done all to stand, still stand".(Eph. 6)

Comment on The Late Fight for MJ's Soul

You sound like an artist that is a bit frustrated with the process. I do understand. I have come across many and helped many angry with the system as it is. But I can say having done this radio thing for some 15+ years that name comes after relationship. There have been many secular artists that presented music for gospel radio that were not embraced. Kelly Price had one gospel hit but released multiple songs. There was a song from Fantasia that only became a uTube hit and was never picked up by radio. Even Seal wanted something added and there was no love. There was not a relationship in place that would open those doors. Radio is arrogant enough to believe we make the names so with the right relationship an unknown artist can get in the door and become known. Then the name helps carry you further. Interestingly enough, what I am saying is right in line with the word. Once you establish a relationship with Christ then as His child there are benefits to using His name. But the relationship must come first. I too hope Michael Jackson had a relationship with Christ. His name alone will not get him in heaven.

Comment on The Late Fight for MJ's Soul

It is very obvious why Christians are trying to put MJ into heaven, it is called respect of person. Obvious is the word that comes to mind with regard to the way many Christians operate. In example as soon as an r&b singer makes a "gospel song" the doors in the Christian field swing wide open. However for the no name Christian who is putting out music and living the life behind the music, it is a known fact that they will probably never be accepted by his/her supposed brothers and sister who call themselves "Christians". Everyone wants to be attached to a name in order to make themselves look important. I too love MJ and pray that he got himself right with God before he closed his eyes, however, NEWS FLASH, if he didn't, no radio dj, tv host or christian have control over the fact that if he did not accept the Lord Jesus Christ as his savior, it's too late now.

Comment on Racial Make-Up of Our Churches

This is a good question. USA is a racist nation MOST OF WHICH IS IN THE CHURCH. I have traveled to many nations and have been recieved with open arms. I'm a black Puerto Rican, female preacher. Imagine that, all these "strikes"against me accoring to the "religious establishment". I carry Jesus and His love and I give it to all whoever will receive it. I reject the label women preacher, black Puerto Rican preacher. I'm a lover of God and His son Jesus and because of that I see signs, miracles and walk with power. I see peoples lives healed, delivered and changed.People from from everywhere come. Our church is in the deep south of Alabama. WHERE GOD HIMSELF IS MOVING POWEFULLY. We must however stop hiding the fact that christians of every color and denomination are racist. We must talk about it and deal with that devil once in for all. We must rid the church of racism, prejudice jealousy and all things that are not of God in a spirit of humility and love

Comment on What's in it for you?

Well, when choosing a church home, I would have to say it's the whole package.I have been a member of my current church for about 14 years, and I have seen many changes-some good and some not so good. But it was always a little of everything that made me come back to the church it was the singing that ministered to me that day,and the message touched me that day as well. So it can always be a variety of things.
